I am happy that you are reading this, to learn more about how therapeutic
essential oils could change your life, too!
Diffuse
Diffusers effectively vaporize and disperse essential oils directly into the air suppressing unpleasant odors, destroying airborne bacteria, promoting physical and mental health, and creating various moods within your home, car or office. Keep them in your kitchen, study, bathroom, bedroom, office, workshop, glove compartment, garage, pocket, purse, etc. You will always be glad when they are just within reach.
A diffuser consists of an oil well, nebulizer (glass tube) and air pump to disperse a micro-fine mist of oil into the air for the purpose of:
Purifying the air.
Creating a romatic mood.
Revitalizing or calming the mind and body.
Diffuse Purification oil to clean the air and neutralize foul or stale odors.
Direct Application
When trying new oils always test a small area of skin before applying over the body.
Apply directly to the skin. Dilute oils if necessary.
Oils penetrate skin. Rapid absorption delivers benefits.
The best place to start is with your feet.
Click here to view the Vita Flex Foot Charts that show how different parts of
the body are represented on the feet. These diagrams appear in Gary Young's book, "Aromatherapy,
The Essential Beginning." If you're not sure about where to place the oils on your feet, don't worry.
You can just cover the whole bottom of your feet with three drops of oil or so on each and know
that the oil is getting everywhere you might want or need it to go throughout your body.
You can get remarkable effects just by putting the oils on your feet. So, this is a good way to start.
More detailed application instructions:
Direct Inhalation
Simple -Carry your precious vial with you
EVERYWHERE and open-up and whiff.
Put several drops into the palms of your hands or on a tissue.
Cup your hands over your nose and mouth.
Breathe deeply.
Perfume
Essential oils are the perfect alternative to synthetic fragrances without all the harsh chemicals that are usually tested on animals.
Essential oils are pure and natural and by using a carrier oil you may apply directly to the skin and reap the therapeutic benefits along with the fragrance.
The oils are superior alternatives to synthetic fragrances and deodorants.
Some of my favorites:
White Angelica
Lavendar
Lemon
Massage
By adding essential oils to your massage oil (We recommend
V-6 Vegetable Mixing Oil)
base you recieve the best of an aromatherapy treatment. The skin is touched, circulation is increased,
and the essential oils are absorbed and inhaled.
For massage, virtually all single oils and blends may be used.
Rub 1-3 drops of an essential oil on desired location.
Cover with a hot,damp towel.
Place a dry towel over the damp one
Leave on for desired time. Best is 10-30 minutes.
If there is too much warming, dilute with V-6 Mixing Oil.
Bath
One of the most delightful ways of experiencing an aromatherapy treatment is in the bath!
I like adding 5-10 drops to the water just before getting in. Also, mix with Bath Gel Base as a
dispersing agent. Relax while inhaling and absorbing the aromatic essential oils.
Try Young Living's Aqua Essence Bath packs.
Just drop in and enjoy!
Humidifier/Vaporizer
Oils such as Peppermint, RC, or Raven are favorites to use in the vaporizer/humidifier.
Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus) RC and Raven with their anti-viral and decongesting qualities.
Lavender (Lavendula Augustifolia) promotes a soothing, calming atmosphere, ideal for nursery or baby's room to soothe and calm with a beautiful aroma.
Skin & Personal Care
Cleanse, refresh and rejuvenate with gifts from nature—essential oils. Essential oils are very beneficial for the skin as they are easily
penetrated into the skin tissue helping and encouraging healthy cell developement. Add essential oils to a natural cleanser, toner,
moisturizer, etc. to promote a healthy complexion. The best place to begin is with a few oils that have a wide range of applications.
This gives you a chance to experiment without having to spend a lot of money.
The Essential 7 kit is a perfect way to start and do this.

Some essential oils create an environment that is unfriendly to germs and bacteria.
Favorites include Lemon, Lavendar, Peppermint, Melrose and Purification
Drop Lavender oil on a cut to clean the wound and kill bacteria.
Clean and increase the shelf life of fresh fruit, fill a bowl with cool water and 2-3 drops of Lemon oil.
Drop your cleaned fruit into the water and stir. Be sure all surfaces of the fruit contact the lemon water.
Put 10-15 drops of Lemon oil in each gallon of carpet cleaning solution to help pull out stains and
brighten the rug. This also leaves a fresh smell in the room.
Cleanse and purify the air and neutralize mildew, cigarette smoke and disagreeable odors with Purification.
Phototoxicity
Phototoxicity can occur after you apply an essential oil topically and then go out into the sun.
This happens most often with certain citrus oils such as bergamot (Citrus bergamia), lime oil (Citrus aurantifolia),
and Orange (Citrus sinensis). For example, if you spray yourself with a solution of orange essential oil
(Citrus sinensis) and then lie out in the sun, you will most likely get a bad sunburn or even deeper burns.
"Hot" oils
In general, the oils that will tend to feel "hot" or "spicy" are the spice oils, such as Clove,
Cinnamon, Peppermint, Oregano, etc. Dilute these oils to "cool" them down, and be careful not
to rub your eyes after using them as they'll give you quite a stinging sensation.
If this should happen, just put some vegetable oil on a tissue or paper towel and
smear it over the affected area. It will cool of in a matter of seconds.
Oils that are Generally Regarded As Safe (GRAS)
Oils that are Generally Regarded As Safe (GRAS) by the FDA may be taken internally as dietary supplements.
Essential oils should always be diluted before being used as a dietary supplement.
Before taking essential oils internally, always dilute with an oil-soluble liquid like honey, olive oil or soy milk.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has deemed the following essential oils as safe for internal use.

Cautions and Guidelines for Safe Use
Most essential oils are safe and free of adverse side effects when used properly.
However, as with any substance you are introducing into your body, it is important to use them intelligently.
You should pay attention to the following factors.
Always keep a bottle of Young Living's V6 Mixing Oil, Massage Oil Base or any pure vegetable oil handy
when using essential oils topically. Vegetable oils dilute essential oils if they cause discomfort or skin irritation.
Keep bottles of essential oils tightly closed and store them in a cool location away from light. If stored properly,
essential oils will maintain their potency for many years.
Keep essential oils out of the reach of children. Treat them as you would any product with therapeutic uses.
Do not use essential oils rich in menthol (such as peppermint) on the throat or neck area of children under 30 months of age.
Direct sunlight and essential oilslemon, bergamot, orange, grapefruit, tangerine, White Angelica oil blend and other citrus oilsmay cause a rash or darker pigmentation if applied to skin and exposed to direct sunlight or UV rays within 3 to 4 days of use. Check the Young Living label on each bottle of oil for "possible sun sensitivity."
Keep essential oils away from eye area and do not put into ears. Do not handle contact lenses or rub eyes with essential oils on fingers. Oils with high phenol contentoregano, helichrysum, cinnamon, thyme, clove, lemongrass, bergamot, Thieves and ImmuPowermay damage contact lenses and irritate eyes. If eye irritation occurs, apply a pure vegetable oil rather than water.
If you get essential oils in your eyes, use V6 mixing oil to dilute. While essential oils will not damage your eyes, they can sting. Using water to wash your eyes out will aggravate the discomfort. Always dilute with a vegetable oil.
Pregnant women should consult their heath care professional before using essential oils containing constituents with hormone-like activity, such as clary sage, sage, Idaho tansy, juniper and fennel.
If epileptic or challenged by serious health ailments such as high blood pressure, consult a health care professional before using essential oils and essential oil supplements. Epileptics avoid hyssop, fennel and Idaho tansy oils.
People with allergies should test a small amount of oil on a small area of sensitive skin, such as the inside of the arm, before applying the oil on other areas. The bottoms of the feet are one of the safest, most effective places to use essential oils.
Do not add undiluted essential oils directly to bathwater. Use Young Living Bath Gel Base as a dispersing agent for oils in the bath or Young Living's Aqua Essence Bath Packs.
Always proceed slowly when taking a new product. For example, if your diet has not been ideal or if you have a history of sensitivities, start with only part of the recommended dosage before gradually increasing to the full dosage. Remember that more is not always better. This is especially important when taking products in combination with each other.
Here's how D. Gary Young, ND, Founder of Young Living, puts it:
"As people become acquainted with essential oils, they always say that there are so many oils and oil products that they don't know where to start. So I put together what I call the
Essential 7, which is a great way for anyone to begin to use and understand the oils. All seven oils can be diffused, worn as perfume, applied to the
Vita Flex points on the feet, added to bath water, applied on location or used with body and foot massage." D. Gary Young, ND
